Interesting Facts

Did you know that the Heidrun field in the Norwegian North Sea is named after the Valhalla goat in Norse mythology, which provided the divine drink called Mead to the Vikings?

Discovered by Conoco in 1985, Heidrun started producing oil ten years later in Oct 1995. This field uses the world's first concrete Tension Leg Platform (TLP), and has a capacity of 250 kBD. The platform, used in 350 meters of water, is the area of a football field. Its height from seabed to the flare tip is 12 times the height of New York's Statue of Liberty!
